✨ What's The Curve & how did it come about?

Vic: “The Curve is a platform for women to learn more about money. It’s a safe space for women to get investment-savvy, without the noise and confusion. A place for women to learn about investing in a way that makes sense to them, and makes sense for their lifestyle.”

“About five or six years ago, Sophie and I had a conversation about money and wanting to invest it. Her idea of investing and mine were very different and it was all due to a lack of education. I sat down and gave Sophie a 101 on investing and this is how the podcast was born. We quickly realised this was a much bigger, systemic issue that A LOT of women encountered, and that they needed a safe space to learn how to grow their wealth and become financially independent.”

💸 What are your top 3 money saving tips for living in London?

Sophie:

  1. Get a bike! Since getting a bike, I spend so much less on transport., which is one of those things you don’t think about, but it’s not cheap. If you don’t want to buy your own, Lime passes are great - around £35 for 400 minutes.
  2. Live with more people. I live with six people so we have a bigger house, share bills, share cooking and live centrally without paying away your entire pay check to rent.
  3. PICNICS! In the summer, it’s the best way to socialise. It’s one of my favourite things to do and SO much cheaper than going to a restaurant.

Vic:

  1. I walk everywhere I can. Not only does this save the pennies but it's a great way to get to know a new city!
  2. ClassPass - I'm a big pilates girl but it can get so expensive, so I use ClassPass to not only try new studios and mix it up, but also to not feel so guilty when I'm working out.
  3. If going out for dinner, use an app like DUSK - drinks add up so quickly in London.

The best piece of advice you've learned from your conversations on The Curve

Vic: "I feel so incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to talk to so many amazing and diverse women on our podcast. Every story is so different and it has made me learn to not take things at face value or judge a book by its cover. Everyone is unique and on their own journey; we need to embrace that; comparison is the thief of all joy."

Sophie: "TALK about money. To your friends, your bosses, your colleagues, anyone who is willing to speak to you about how they manage their money. Ask questions. Learn from others wins and from their mistakes. Every conversation you have around it creates a powerful moment, and most people are open to sharing their tips, tricks and hacks it’s just that most of us are too afraid to ask."

🍜 Favourite dish and where?

Vic: "The bone marrow at St. John, it’s so delicious. They do such great British food, complimented with good service and ambiance; the best recipe."

Sophie: “I’m obsessed with OKKO, a little Japanese restaurant on Broadway Market. Their agedashi tofu is bomb.”

🍻 Where can we usually find you on a night out?

Vic: "A cosy wine bar is always my go-to. Hectors in De Beauvoir or Cadet in Newington Green are my local spots for a good drink, Space Talk near Barbican for a dance and The Hero in Maida Vale for a fun pub."

Sophie: “I’m a cosy pub girl so my top spots would be The Devonshire in Soho or the Lore of the Land in Marylebone (dogs allowed…huge plus!)"
